Linda Martelli
KIX Chicks in the Morning, 5am - 10am
Linda was born and raised in Hamilton and comes from an Italian background (hence "Martelli") and that explains her love for wine, pasta and romance. Her love for music and talking led her to the radio broadcasting program at Mohawk College where she graduated with honours and received the coveted Agnes M. Anderson Award for excellence in radio. Her first job came soon after that in 1987 with CKLH known as K-Lite FM in Hamilton. From overnights and weekends to traffic reporting, Linda did it all. It wasn't until 1992 when she joined 820 CHAM and caught the Country bug. Linda did several shifts including the morning show and the position of Music Director. Her dedication to country was recognized by the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) where she was nominated for Personality of the Year several years in a row. In 1999, CISS FM in Toronto picked up Linda for a brief time until a format change brought her back to CHAM. She has had the opportunity to meet and interview so many country artists from Garth Brooks and Shania Twain to Keith Urban, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Linda was involved with the launch of KIX 106 in 2004 and is now thrilled to be back as a KIX Chick in the Morning. She says "It's all about having fun and putting that smile on your face every day." Linda can also be heard on our sister station CHYM FM as mid-day host.
When she's not on the air, she’s busy with her family which has grown over the last 4 years. Her twin boys, Evan and Eric just became teenagers and are her pride and joy. She is so incredibly proud of how they've grown into fine young men and just this past year she officially became a "hockey mom"!!
Linda resides in Cambridge with the other love in her life, her best friend and soul mate, Derm who also shares a broadcasting career. Derm also has 2 boys Dylan & Quinten, so as you can see Linda is outnumbered when it comes to the remote control and sports! Her greatest joy is when the 6 of them are together livin', laughin' and lovin'. Linda loves so many genres of music and tries to attend as many concerts as she can. When she has some down time, she's an avid reader (loves biography's and romance novels) and she squeezes time at the gym to keep herself fit in body and spirit.
It's no wonder Linda also enjoys cooking as her recipe in life is to live, laugh and love.
