Good Samaritan of the Week Award
Do you know an outstanding individual? Someone who has had an impact in the lives of others? This inspirational person has shown leadership, commitment, and initiative. Their countless hours of volunteering makes a difference in the community.
This week's Good Samaritan is Steve Moores. Steve is a member of the K-W Woodworking Club and, until a few weeks ago, he had hair down to the middle of his back and what was described as a "ZZ Top beard." But after some pressure from fellow club members, Steve accepted the challenge of shaving his hair and beard and donating it to the cancer society so wigs could be made. He also collected sponsors and raised $1600. The entire effort was started when the club lost a couple of its members to cancer. Besides this latest effort, Steve also makes toys every Christmas for the Toy Drive and helps the GRCA with its birdhouse building program every Earth Day.
