KIX Cares
MARILLAC PLACE offers safe housing to women between the ages of sixteen and twenty-five who are pregnant or who have their child or children in their care, or who are attempting to regain care of their child or children.
Of the 29 Resident Mothers last year, 20 were 18 years old or younger.
Marillac Place resolves to give mothers the tools to become effective parents and self-supporting, responsible members of the community.
What makes Marillac Place unique among other things is that it permits the longest stay for residents in all of Ontario. Young mothers can stay for up to twelve months or up to their child’s first birthday, allowing more time to achieve their goals and take advantage of our life skills training and on-site programming.
The young women served are among our communities most financially and politically disadvantaged. By enabling them with the skills they need, we help break the downward generational cycle of poverty and homelessness.
At Marillac Place, it isn't just about changing diapers, it is about changing futures.
ABOUT THE BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN:
What makes the campaign so successful is its simplicity. Bring a baby bottle home, or leave it on your desk at work -- use it as a piggy bank for a few weeks and then return it. The campaign starts on Mother’s Day with the distribution of the baby bottles and ends on Father’s Day with the collection of the bottles. However whatever time frame works for you or your organization is fine with us, we are able to accommodate any start or end time throughout the year.
* You can participate by contacting Marillac Place and telling us them how many bottles you’d like.
* Bottles are free and will be delivered to the desired location. We will pick them up at the campaigns end, we’ll count the change and roll it and where applicable provide the tax receipt. We really do make it very easy.
* Small bottles are available for individuals and large bottles for group donations or public areas.
* Support in the form of posters, written materials, speakers and videos can be provided.
The success of this campaign is vital for Marillac Place to continue it's important services. All proceeds go directly to the operations of Marillac Place and have a direct impact on our residents and their infants. For more information: www.marillacplace.ca or call 519-571-3772, or angelam@marillacplace.ca
